Sad news. Manx Birdlife reports that the number of choughs breeding on the IOM 🇮🇲 has fallen by 24% since the 2014/15 census.

For me, no trip back to the Island is ever complete without a trip to Langness or Scarlett to see these stunning birds.

It has to be time to license grouse moors - and for national parks to do more to put their house in order. The situation in the #YorkshireDales is shameful.
Natural England confirms ongoing & relentless illegal persecution is reason why Hen Harriers are still rare in England.

It has to be time to license grouse moors - and for national parks to do more to put their house in order. The situation in the #YorkshireDales is shameful.
Two very different books: one fiction, one non-fiction; one firmly rooted in a single, closely defined location, the other celebrating different cultures across the globe.

Lots of Ringed Plovers foraging among the pebbles on the incoming tide at Ramsey - and one interloper. A visiting winter plumage Sanderling, I think.
