Remembering a stunning autumn trip to Hakone Open Air Art Museum a few years back. A great day out if you’re based in #Tokyo (and even better if you have time for an overnight stay in the area).

Superb, hard-hitting presentation (including further info about this infamous C4 News footage) for the @friendsofthedales.bsky.social ‘Eyes on the Skies’ initiative.

Sad news. Manx Birdlife reports that the number of choughs breeding on the IOM 🇮🇲 has fallen by 24% since the 2014/15 census.

For me, no trip back to the Island is ever complete without a trip to Langness or Scarlett to see these stunning birds.

Brilliant photo (again!) Peter. That young Osprey seems to be revelling in all the attention it’s getting.

It has to be time to license grouse moors - and for national parks to do more to put their house in order. The situation in the #YorkshireDales is shameful.

Two very different books: one fiction, one non-fiction; one firmly rooted in a single, closely defined location, the other celebrating different cultures across the globe.

And yet the common themes and shared passions are striking. I can’t recommend them highly enough. 📚

29 in 10 years! I love living here in the #YorkshireDales but this makes me feel angry & ashamed.

This is happening on your watch,
@yorkshiredales.org.uk Will you now demand compulsory licensing of grouse moors?

Lots of Ringed Plovers foraging among the pebbles on the incoming tide at Ramsey - and one interloper. A visiting winter plumage Sanderling, I think.
