I'm a complete amateur in my writing, so, I'm curious, is it cheating to start a chapter in medias res?
It just feels more efficient to start off quick, and only briefly, in a passive voice/manner, describe "how we got here" without a ton of clunky play-by-play and/or exhaustive exposition...
