Otd 30 years ago, Barnsley played at top of the table #Middlesbrough in Div 1. On an icy pitch 2 future Reds scored for ‘Boro – first John Hendrie & then Alan Moore with a Brendan O’Connell equaliser between. Otd in 1933, Barnsley beat Hartlepool United 5-4 at Oakwell on their way to becoming Champions of Div 3N. Sadly, Chairman William Donald died during the game. He felt unwell at h-t & stayed in the directors room half but was later found dead by a groundsman. He had been Chair since July. #BarnsleyFC

Otd in 1919, Barnsley travelled to the Potteries to play Port Vale in Div 2 and won 2-0 thanks to goals from Harold Bell and Harry Tufnell. Tufnell’s was his 70th and final goal for the Reds. He remains the 11th highest scorer in club history. One of our greats! #BarnsleyFC #HarryTufnell #PortVale

On this day in 2001, Barnsley started the day in the Division One relegation zone but a 4-1 win v Gillingham lifted them out. Reds scored all 5 - Lumsdon, Barnard, Dyer and Jones for BFC and a Chris Morgan OG for the visitors albeit the mistake was Kevin Miller's.
