I'm curious, does anyone else get ads that push products with Huberman's seal of approval on @kavehmd.bsky.social podcasts, or is it just me?

Work forced me into using the new Outlook today. Violence may be the best option for the rest of the day.

Why is the vast majority of emergency management public messaging stuck in the, "be aware, make a plan, build a kit" rut? How is that truly helpful and advancing public awareness of what the field actually does?

An unpopular opinion for those who smoke meats: if you can't do it well with basic equipment then you don't need to buy that $1k+ pellet smoker.

On a side note, I made some fantastic smoked chicken on the Weber kettle tonight.

The urge to just burn it all down and go start a hobby farm is strong today. Anyway, how's your Thursday going?

Apparently more than half of the locations in my county that were eligible to receive broadband under the BEAD program are no longer eligible, and the commissioners are surprised. Unfortunately, this is what they voted for and they cannot see the connection.

It's going to be 100⁰+ this weekend with high humidity levels, so naturally this is a great weekend for us to burn a house for training. Yay us!

It sure would be nice if some of the maga crowd started caring about unelected bureaucrats again. It's almost as if that wasn't actually their (the maga folks) problem in the first place. 🤔

Nothing motivates you to work harder than seeing someone you know fail upwards due to their incompetence. It's especially troublesome given the nature of their recent appointment.

I know it's been said before, but the number of people who are ok with government overreach when it suits their needs is shocking. The "rules for thee" crowd on both sides needs to get some perspective before everything implodes.

Smoked some pork on the Weber kettle today and there was almost not enough breeze to keep the coals going well. Have no fear though it all worked out in the end.

Ok folks, I just applied for a gig in Cincinnati. I've never been there, though. What should I know in case it actually works out?

Well, well, well, if it isn't the consequences of one's actions coming back to haunt them. Unfortunately these consequences affect more than just trump supporters.

Emmitsburg is home to the National Fire Academy, effectively the war college for U.S. firefighters. The Trump administration's decision to halt classes has some townspeople pondering their votes.

One of life's great mysteries, on par with loch Ness and Bigfoot, is how a 2 day trip produces more laundry than a week at home. Make it make sense.

He's right. This exact thing happened during the height of the COVID pandemic. Large hospital systems gobbled up PPE and all the small ones were left fighting for scraps and paying through the nose for it. The scale will likely be larger this time.

Got to have my kids be part of the record setting crowd at the US Women's rugby match last night. Great times were had by all, and the seats were right in the action.

Why is selling your house so damn exhausting? Can we just NOT clean it all and sell it as is?

I put on a classic rock mix to work to today, and I was very offended by the songs that made that playlist. I might need some time to recover from this.

Would you consider a politician "successful" if they primarily repealed laws to make things more effective instead of simply adding to existing laws? As in, are we measuring the success of our elected officials in only one way and who's to say it's the correct way?

I feel like there are a lot of government programs that are just now feeling the pain of inconsistent funding that public health has had to deal with for decades. Welcome to the club y'all. Maybe now instead of just watching it happen we can figure out a way to fix it for all of us.

I wonder if people who oppose any kind of remote work remember how much of a time suck it was to have to travel to in-person meetings for literally everything. I have a feeling those folks have never worked a job that relies on interacting with people outside their own office.
