Not Now, Right Now

Perhaps in the future Democrats can make an argument that it has moral courage but it will first need to demonstrate it a good number of times without appealing to it. Otherwise, I'm not listening. First thing it can do is thank Schumer for his service then choose another leader.

Difficult and Doable Versus the Alternative

The shortfall with SNAP is inexcusable but we citizens can marshall resources to feed people. Ensuring people have sufficient resources to afford healthcare is a lift that is in all likelihood beyond our capacity as private citizens. Ds, don't cave.

A trillion dollar pay package over a decade. Assume work each day of the year. That comes out to over 273,000,000 dollars a day. The 'average' Telsa employee will need to work over 4,806 years to match Musk's daily rate. Recorded history of humans is around 5,500 years.

Lest One Disqualify One's Self

Bill Leonard raises a question for those cheering the anti-Christian bias task force appointed by Trump to stamp out anti-Christian bias. Perhaps it is they who are engaged in such bias.

Sabotaging Ministry

The US's CDC is a gem, now a lesser gem. It does not shine as it is able due to dull-minded leaders of the current presidential administration. This agency is about preserving life but its life is being diminished, thus a major way God relates to the world is diminished, too.

"It should be clear ... that we have a ... left-wing terror threat ...," stated the president.

Mr. President, you are uninformed. Left-wingers, too, pray for your well-being and that you'll make good decisions. Whatever threat you perceive, which is concerning in itself, is not from them.

AG Senate Hearing

Words convey meaning beyond the words themselves thus every form of communication requires a hermeneutical task to ensure a plausible interpretation. From what I heard, AG Bondi presented herself unprofessionally, undermining the credibility she apparently wanted for her comments.

Gandhi, King et al.

It seems that some in the current administration are itching for - and trying to create - an incident as pretext for declaring martial law. Let's not give "it" to them, rather let's absorb the abuse and rob it of its power. Such is not easy but it is effective.

Trump's Enemy Within

I visit the sick, give to the poor, attend church to worship, pray, and seek forgiveness for being less than I am capable. I pray for all leaders and peace and well-being to manifest in all places. I am a Democrat, therefore scum, an enemy within, deserving of banishment.

A Key Problem

Arguably the most powerful person among the nations is our president, his power increasing daily. His ability to be merciful is unprecedented among leaders of this world; yet, unfortunately, his propensity for merciful behavior and policy apparently is negatively related to his power.

On Being Free

To ensure government promotes freedom for all people, keep religion from joining it.

When a government silences its critics in what way may a nation's patriots be faithful? After voice has been denied, what remains of freedom?

Empire

Renaming the Department of Defense to the Department of War is a regressive move symbolizing values, attitudes, and behaviors less reflective of peace than the defense title. Truman was insightful; Trump is not. The author (below) is on point where he states it is the language of empire.

A just nation does not: 1) risk the well-being of children, minorities, the poor, and the aged, 2) attenuate medical research, 3) further enrich the rich, 4) deny climate change and policy, 5) support genecidal behavior, 6) deny due process, and 7) diminish good, reward bad.

The way DOJ is working the Epstein situation, given the reporting, the outcome likely will not be trusted to be an honest accounting. Occam's razor suggests Trump would at least be embarrassed by a complete release of files and that Maxwell has an enormous incentive for selective recall.
