Hey all! My name is Bryan.

I work as a full-stack web developer and I'm currently learning UI design to broaden my skillset.

Outside of coding, I enjoy doing landscape photography.

Looking forward to connecting with fellow developers and creatives here!

When you email issues to Obsidian Entertainment (the video game company) their AI support hallucinates and tells you to email Obsidian (the note-taking company) instead.

If the reward function is to reduce the number of touches in a support ticket, this is one way to do it.

Growing up, I never thought I’d see ever see Halo on PlayStation in my lifetime. The times are surely changing.
Master Chief comes to PlayStation.

Halo: Campaign Evolved launches on PS5 next year, rebuilt and modernized with 2-player local co-op and 4-player online co-op: play.st/4oAYnr5

Next.js 16 is already out? I haven’t even gotten around to upgrading to Next.js 15 on some of my projects. 😅

“Children learn through play and adults play through art.”
– Brian Eno

I’ve been mentally chewing on this quote for some time now. I always thought of art as a form of self-expression but never quite arrived at the idea that it could also be a form of play.

Stumbled upon sparse arrays in JavaScript today. Why do these even exist??? 😬

One major life lesson I’m learning today:

Some people aren't capable of showing up in the ways that matter, and no amount of your grace, patience, or understanding will change that.

Just saw Sinners. So glad I went into this without seeing any trailers. What an amazing soundtrack!

Just discovered the text-box-trim CSS property today. Pretty nifty for minimizing the amount of whitespace around text characters. 🤓

text-box-trim - CSS: Cascading Style Sheets | MDN
The text-box-trim CSS property specifies which of the over and under edges of text content to trim from a text element's block container.

TIL ChatGPT is useful for creating Anki Flashcards. All I needed to do was provide my study notes and it created a CSV file of the flashcards that I then imported to a deck in Anki.

Another day where I’m seriously wondering if it’s worth it to stick with Next.js for this project. 🙃

s1: The $6 R1 Competitor?

This isn't a R1 replication, it's a brilliant breakthrough in data reduction, and just plain dumb engineering ingenuity. I considered not writing this up, but I don't think it's obvious why it's so important. Enjoy!

I did the same and also went a step further by setting up my router to block social media on weekdays just so I could focus on work 🥲
I deleted most of my social media apps from my phone so I have to open my computer and post and it has done wonders for my mental health this weekend.

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉
