The Tigers better hope that they lose their arbitration case against Skubal. Because they are going to get absolutely crushed if they end up paying Skubal $19M when they just paid Valdez $38M.

Craig Breslow joined the Red Sox in October of 2023. Here’s where the Red Sox farm system has ranked according to Baseball America:

2023: 10
2024: 13
2025: 1
2026: 15

Some big graduations have forced the Red Sox system to drop. However, Breslow has also relied heavily on trading from the farm.

For the first time in my lifetime I am witnessing the Cardinals go into a full rebuild. They have been one of the more consistent pillars in the sport for quite some time.

Feels weird.

Highest OBP’s in 2025 (Min. 250 PA)

1. Aaron Judge: .457
2. Ronald Acuña Jr: .417
3. Will Smith: .404
4. George Springer: .399
5. Roman Anthony: .396

The Red Sox haven’t had a player with a .400+ OBP since Mookie and JD in 2018. Can Anthony do it in 2026?

Only Kyle Harrison remains from the Rafael Devers trade just 7 months after the deal.

Wilyer Abreu vs RHP (349 PA):
.250 / .321 / .487 / 21 HR

Wilyer Abreu vs LHP (68 PA):
.230 / .290 / .377 / 1 HR

I know the Red Sox have talked about wanting to get Abreu more ABs vs LHP. However, I’m not sure how that will happen with 4 outfielders and Yoshida on the roster.

Ceddanne Rafaela saw his K-rate drop from 26.4% in 2024 to 19.9% in 2025. He also improved his barrel rate from 7.5% in 2024 to 9.2% in 2025.

Rafaela’s wRC+ went from 81 in ‘24 to 91 in ‘25.

I’m excited to see how Rafaela grows in year 3.

The Minnesota Twins should have accepted the Red Sox offer at the deadline when Payton Tolle was in trade offers for Joe Ryan.

This offseason Boston is going to laugh if Minnesota wants Tolle.

Getting last night’s win against Alcantara was huge. Now, the Red Sox will face Cal Quantrill (5.09 ERA) and Janson Junk, a guy who struggles to miss bats (6.2 K/9).

The Boston bats should wake up over the next 2 days.

All the great Red Sox teams have been great at Fenway Park.

2004: 55-26
2007: 51-30
2013: 53-28
2018: 57-24

While I’m not comparing this year’s team to those 4 teams, the fact that the Red Sox are 37-21 at home is a sign that they are trending in the right direction.

The Aaron Judge injury should have an impact on the Red Sox: Buy at the deadline.

The AL is wide open. Go for it.

The Impact of the Judge Injury on the Red Sox
The sport took a major blow on Saturday when the New York Yankees announced that Aaron Judge is on the IL with a flexor strain of his UCL ligament in his throwing arm.

After facing 2 of the NL’s top teams, the Red Sox still are in possession of the final Wild Card spot.

The Colorado Rockies have been on my brain a lot recently. How can they be this bad in year 7 of their rebuild?

It’s time for them to get creative with some outside the box thinking.

Colorado cannot act like all the other teams. Circumstances are different.

Since June 20th (25 games) Roman Anthony has the 6th best OBP (.434) in baseball.

I’m running out of praise for this kid. Incredible what he is doing, especially considering he is only 21 years-old.
July 21, 2025 at 12:30 PM
That’s a really gutsy win by the Red Sox. For a while it felt like, “Here we go again” but this team grinded this win out. They needed to avoid a sweep and got the job done.

Bregman and Crochet are difference makers.

Nobody has fewer RBI than Connor Wong’s 1 RBI (Min 100 ABs).

There hasn’t been a player with an RBI total of less than 2 since 2016 (Min 100 ABs), when the Orioles Caleb Joseph did not drive in a run.

Wong is 0-30 with RISP. Never seen anything like this.

Carlos Narváez is currently +3,500 to win the AL Rookie of the Year award according to FanDuel (6th best odds).

Narváez ranks 2nd in fWAR (2.8) among AL rookies. I feel like the Boston backstop is not getting the respect he deserves based on the first half he put together.

A great comeback win for the Red Sox. Wins like that make you start believing in this team.
July 11, 2025 at 1:31 AM
In this important 10 game stretch before the break, the Red Sox have set themselves up perfectly. A season high 4 games above .500 and playing their best baseball of the season.

Big series starting tomorrow vs Tampa Bay.

Since June 1st, Brayan Bello has thrown the 4th most innings in baseball. That is who I always thought Bello could be. Bello is just another example that it takes time for guys to really find their identity. We as fans want instant results and when they aren’t there, we panic.

Patience.
July 9, 2025 at 12:10 PM
One of the best outings of Brayan Bello’s career.

Going into Washington and earning a sweep is exactly what this team needed to do. Now, they head home to play the worst team in the sport with an opportunity to really build some momentum.
