A statue of King Gambrinus, called “the patron saint of beer,” stands watch over the former Pabst Brewing corporate offices in downtown Milwaukee.

The original wooden statue was first installed in 1857 and later replaced by an aluminum one in 1967, which is the one present today.

According to legend, the large neon sign with the martini glass once doubled as a cryptic invitation for the johns who enjoyed cruising Route 66 in search of hookers. In the mid-1900s, the basement served as an illegal gambling outfit and upstairs was a brothel.

Chicago’s Sky-Hi Drive-In and Restaurant operated inside a converted Douglas DC-7 airplane.

Opened 1963, featuring 10 tables inside the plane's cabin, which was perched above a luncheonette serving drive-in customers. Servers dressed as stewardesses. It closed in the late 1960s.

The Clock Restaurant on La Tijera Blvd was a famous Googie-style diner in the Westchester area of Los Angeles, known for its iconic clock sign, family-friendly atmosphere, and classic American food, but it was demolished by 1963.
