A late in life trans woman with a complicated personal life
When people stare while I'm out in public, I tell myself that they think I'm hot 🔥 and that they really want me. It's amazing how that impacts my attitude.

The guiding principles talked about in the preamble are being eroded.

Let's not let evil succeed.

I am afraid. I fear we are going down the same path Germany went before World War II. The signs are there. All it takes for evil to succeed is for good people to stay silent. The preamble of The Constitution starts with “We the people” in giant, bold text.

There are people in the current administration calling for people to be denied their fundamental human rights because of who they love, how they identify, or the color of their skin.

The current administration is talking about sending US citizens to other countries if they committed a crime. All it would take for that to happen to your friends and neighbors is for their differences to be classified as a crime.

They stayed quiet while their friends and neighbors were shipped off to concentration camps.

If they were not directly impacted, then they stayed quiet. They stayed quiet while their friends and neighbors were denied the opportunity to earn a living because their businesses were targeted. They stayed quiet while their friends and neighbors were relocated to ghettos.

All it took for evil to succeed then was the silence from the people.

The sitting president is singling out a minority group to vilify; here it’s the trans community, then it was the Jewish community. In Germany, the vilification grew to encompass everyone who did not fit into the ideal created by the fascist government.

I’m a student of history, not because I love history, but because “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it” (George Santayana, 1905). When we look at history, we see similarities between what is happening here, in the US, and what happened in Germany in the 1930s.

I ve been silent for a while (personal reasons), but I just have to say that this is not the country I served and runs counter to everything this nation stands for.

It's sad how many queer social media groups that claim to be trans inclusive are supportive only if we sit quietly, in the back. Remember, Stonewall was a riot with trans POCs at the forefront.

Our stories are being pulled from popular media. It's almost like that by not talking about us, it will make us magically dissappear. I'm not going anywhere and if our stories are being silenced in one place, that just means we have to be louder to rise above the silence.

Oma’s thought of the day: our pets are part of our family, the grief at their loss is just as profound as losing any family members, employers should give bereavement time forever their loss too.

Oma’s thought of the day: people who think they have something profound to say every day, don’t.

If I going to have a thought of the day, I suppose I should come up with something.

Oma’s thought of the day: sometimes, just leaving the house can be a victory.
