i remember reading a review of Shrek in the newspaper when it came out. the critic found no humor in the villain of the story being named “Lord Farquaad.” the writer bemoaned that it sounded like “fuckwad.” their lack of joy for it was so funny to me.

It's endlessly frustrating having rejection letter after rejection letter come in from job applications, and they all say "we're choosing to go with candidates that more closely align with our business needs", but NEVER saying what the gap is, or giving any way to ask what I'm lacking.
