The weight of the world feels particularly onerous today. I'm putting one foot in front of the other best I can, but my legs are getting shaky. The urge to hole up in a cabin in the deepest woods and eat insects for the rest of time is strong.

I almost forgot, my two books have birthdays very close to one another. Her Violet Empire may have started long before, but these books released on 11/7/23 and 10/29/24, respectively. I'm hoping that their sister will appear in the spring. 👍

I've been rewatching the BBC miniseries of H2G2, and it's been motivating me to rethink some things about my WIP. I like my books to be witty, and so far, this one isn't very.

I just gave substantial donations to multiple resources in my community ahead of this SNAP outage.
This is not virtue signaling as much as it's a challenge. If you believe dignity is a right, walk the walk. Build your community, don't just live in it.

It's absolutely shocking how much thinking people seem willing to give away to an algorithm that is incapable of thought. Like smart, professional people, to something that only generates convincing-sounding word salad.

I let my wife read my WIP, and she said that perhaps it's too action-packed. There are definitely some places I can add some oxygen, but a Book 3 needs to keep up a certain amount of momentum.
Not a bad problem to have, though, IMO.

Such a good question. In The Duchess's world, there aren't many lies. Mostly unbelievable truths and omissions. Martin usually falls apart when it gets overwhelming. Maureen starts insulting people. Everyone else accepts it as the cost of doing business.

Just canceled Spotify. Time to go back to physical media and importing to Plex. I tried Tidal, but it just didn't work for me. From now on, if there's something I want to hear, I'm gonna buy it.
