I believe all kids, including African children, should be able to see themselves in stories.

One of my goals is to reach a global audience with my stories. If you feel inclined to participate in my goal, please share my posts, website, books, etc. Thanks for your support.

Very excited about my upcoming release.

This story is for the little ones (ages 4 and under) and it’s the first children’s book I’ve written as an adult. One-year-old Koko (Jama’s sister) loves being in her mothers wrap and she tells us all about her day, in the village, with Mama.

In work and in life, sometimes the most meaningful moments are the pauses.
In this pause, we allow ourselves to slow down, recharge, and simply be present.

Just like in a good book, the magic isn’t only in the ending; it’s in the journey, the laughter, and even the quiet rest along the way.

African children's books are great for exposing readers to culture, broadening perspectives, appreciating diversity, and preparing readers to be global citizens.

Here’s my list of best African kid’s books. www.authorsanyu.com/blog/best-af...

Read any of these?

This year’s library summer reading program theme is "Color Our World" and I’ve been reflecting on what that lately.

For me, that means sharing our talents. I like to paint, so I brought my painted characters from my children's book to library storytime.

Multicultural bookshelves help to prepare children to thrive in a global world, encourage critical thinking, foster mutual respect for others and so much more.

Here’s my first book cover concept. A boy courageously leaping across two canyons. But I thought, “Wait…I don’t want kids trying this at home.”

Eventually, I landed on my final cover but the theme and message still remain. Courage is not about being fearless, it’s about facing fear.

🌍Great resource for parents, community members, educators and anyone who values diverse and global perspectives in children’s literature.

📚Includes African books for all kids ages (yes! Even teenagers)... elementary, middle and high school.

Reviews like this remind me that I’m on the right path. They remind me to keep pushing and keep sharing my stories. (This is an actual review I pulled from one of my verified Amazon reviewers!)

Had any interesting reviews?

Cultural Intelligence is the ability to effectively relate to and work with people from different cultural backgrounds.

In my opinion, it’s not just about diversity. Cultural intelligence allows people to feel valued. What do you think?

I wanted to share about a challenge within the African Diaspora…the gap between children born outside of the continent and their parents’ connection to the culture.

Growing up, I rarely saw characters who looked like me in books. It’s important that children—especially those from the African continent & diaspora—know their stories matter.
