I was interviewed by #author Hussein Al-Baiaty, we discuss #AIhype, why we need AI pushback, and what the future of AI means for creators and business.

We talk about what a future may look like when decision making and labor drops to a fraction of its current value.

Few things are like the sound of snow compacted between layers of your rolled up pants.

❄️ The kind that hides around your ankles and you don't notice until you're sitting comfortably and get a chill. You feel your wet, rolled-up pants and out pops a flattened snowball that shatters everywhere.

Back in the early 2000s, when I was blogging about humanity being on a parallel track of magic-level sci-fi tech and breathtakingly widespread incompetence, I had no idea how right I’d turn out to be.

For you #LinkedIn users out there trying to get seen, there seems to be a direct correlation between posting frequency and reach. Do with that what you will.

Can I just mention that @laurentaylorbak.bsky.social is a fabulous editor. I haven't read her "speculative smut" yet, but she did wonders for my short story which needed some care and attention.

I have a short story that is 5464 words long. I want to enter it into a competition or anthology, but I am looking for someone to read it through and give me some advice on it. Happy to trade or pay. It's what I would call "casual science fiction." Any takers?

How do I get published in an anthology about Witch's Brooms? Writing about spacecraft, obviously.

$3 and you get awesome stories from accomplished and new authors, as well as "The First Antigravity Spacecraft" by Matt Rouse.

In my grief over the death of my Rooster, Giga, I am going to feel better by having an anti-AI person block me today. And I will accomplish this by sharing this video which explains why #AI using up all the fresh water, isn't a real thing in almost every instance.

No one has blocked me recently, so I should remind you all I wrote, "Will AI Take My Job? 2," where I cover the current state of AI in the workplace, who's likely and less likely to use their job, and that governments need to start #UBI now. Also, #robots are everywhere if you know where to look.

My cat ate too quickly and barfed on the floor in front of the wood stove. Now she is pestering me for more food.

My other cat and dog are lying together in front of the fire just chilling out, like they didn't just watch a cat throw up in front of them.

Gave my chickens apples, pears, and oiled sunflower seeds today.

They would think it was their birthday, if they knew what birthdays were and knew when they hatched... and if they all hatched at once, which they did not. 🐣

Do you remember the 1900s and look at now and think, “I thought we fixed all these problems already, why is _____ still happening?”

And are you also old enough to not want to refer to them as the 1900s?

“People” seem to forget everything we’ve learned so easily.

People SHOULD push back against AI - or any tech that can be a double-edged sword. We don't get safer tech if there is no push back.

But those who push back need to be educated and thoughtful. Every second post, lecture, article I find it obvious that they have no idea what they are talking about.

Finally got time to write a bit this month.

Close to Hope (5426 words)
When Sarah falls into a remote canyon, she's rescued by a robot who's been hiding after a family risked everything to save him. The encounter makes her question everything in a world where an oppressive AI controls society.
