I’ve been working on a project documenting Oxford’s Night Climbing scene. It’s not complete yet, but I’m keen to share the progress so far. The series captures the thrill of nocturnally scaling the historic architecture. Open to any opinions or insights!

“Statement of Youth: The Birth of British Sport Climbing” A really great short-doc about the rise of sport climbing & climbing culture in the UK, following legends like Ben Moon and Jerry Moffatt. Well worth a watch. #Climbing #SportClimbing #UKClimbing #Bouldering #Documentary

Untitled Film Stills.

1977.

Sherman was critical about contemporary image culture and the rise of image consumerism that drove emerging mass media.

Been looking at Ross McDonnell’s ‘Joyrider’ while researching for my Oxford Night Climbing book. The imagery is super compelling. Well worth a look! #Photography #Photobook #NightClimbing #Dublin #Joyrider #Photographer

As I explore crowdfunding options for my Oxford Night Climb book, I’ve been looking into similar bodies of work. John Bulmer’s Night Climbers of Cambridge has been a huge influence, his 1930s series is incredible, and I highly recommend it. Avalible as a @caferoyalbooks.bsky.social #Photography

Just added The Stonemasters: California Rock Climbers in the 70s by John Long and Dean Fidelman to my collection. A great photobook showing the bold spirit of Yosemite’s climbing pioneers. Highly recommend for anyone with an interest in the hippie movement and climbings history! #photobook #climbing

Some more from my Oxford Night Climbing series. As I continue to photograph, write, and gather anecdotes, I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for John Bulmer’s 1930s Cambridge imagery, an incredible body of work. Available as a @caferoyalbooks.bsky.social!

More from my Oxford Night Climbing series.

Last summer, I spent time with some Slackliners in Western Snowdonia, who live a free-spirited lifestyle while pushing athletic boundaries. They set up lines over a quarry, making the place their own. Their approach to life reminds me of Dean Fiedlman and Glenn Denny’s work of Yosemite in the 60s.

Greetings, Bluesky! ☁️📷

I wanted to start by discussing Letizia Battaglia’s Life, Love and Death in Sicily at The Photographer’s Gallery. Her images capture life in Sicily under the Mafia’s shadow during the 1970’s-90’s. The hanging prints were incredible, and immersive.
