How does one introduce oneself in a forum such as this #bluesky with only 300 characters, which includes the spaces? Perhaps it's in the spaces where one's true identity lies. The untold stories. The unheard sighs.

I like to write and ponder upon things. The rest is in all those spaces. 🌷

I wrote this one on my birthday. My late husband & I enjoyed going out to cafés for a coffee & treat (anything with apple was always my 'go to'). On special occasions I do this still with the express purpose of remembering him, but also my parents who I loved my coffee times with.

I keep setting myself little projects. Now I'm seeking out beautiful words from different languages, which have wonderful meanings. I use that word to inspire a poem, matching again with a photo of mine. This is the first. Inspired by the Portuguese word, Saudade

Some months back I purchased a new kettle, a glass one. I've been intrigued with watching the water boil. 🙄 Yesterday I took a photo of it. 🫠 Then found myself, pen in hand writing something. When I transferred the words to my computer, the poem had changed! Welcome to my strange world. 😂

It puzzles me at times where my thoughts come from. Annoyingly it's those thoughts that I think are quite good, then they disappear and no matter what I can't encourage them back, that really bother me. Pondering about thoughts brought this poem into being.

This is my cute Yellow-rumped Thornbill. You can see his pale yellow tummy, with a brighter yellow rump.
The under side of a Yellow-rumped Thornbill. He has a light yellow tummy, and you can just see that his rump is a brighter yellow. His tail is black. His beak is almost like a 'thorn' hence the name. The bird is sitting on a thin branch, there are other branches crossing the image. Background green leaves are blurry, as it the thicker branches on either side of the image. The sky is a light blue. The top of the bird is an olive-brown colour. Found throughout Australia.

Yet another new poem for my grief collection. Seems as if my soul is not finished finding the words to speak about my companionship with grief. It will always journey with me, so I continue to learn its ways.

The Rainbow Lorikeet is unmistakable with its bright red beak, red eyes and colourful plumage. Both sexes look alike, with a blue (mauve) head and belly, green wings, tail and back, and an orange/yellow breast. They are often seen in loud and fast-moving flocks, or in communal roosts at dusk. This Rainbow Lorikeet hangs upside down in a Bottle Brush tree. He is feasting on a red Bottle Brush flower. Green foliage covers half of him, while the background is also green.

#BirdOfTheDay by @alan678.bsky.social is #birdsyoulove. This particular one is special. A friend of my parent's had died. I'd known this man most of my life. I conducted his funeral. His favourite bird was the King Parrot. Day after the funeral this one visited, never had before & never did again.
Male Australian King-Parrots are the only Australian parrots with a completely red head. Females are similar to males except that they have a completely green head and breast. Both sexes have a red belly and a green back, with green wings and a long green tail. King parrots are normally encountered in pairs or family groups. This King Parrot sits on a branch in a tree. There are green leaves surrounding him. There is also a green fence in the background. Bruce (the fella's funeral I had conducted the day previous) had come to say goodbye. Never encountered a King Parrot this close before or again.

It has a red/orange beak, purple head, lime green band across the back of its head, a green back with assorted colours under feathers peaking through, the belly has. orange and yellow feathers. Its eye is black in the middle with a ring of red around it. This one sits still looking towards the left, 2 more are behind it. Behind the Lorikeets is a blurred green background.

I write a lot on grief (& death). I've spent many years sitting alongside the grieving. The last 8 years has brought death & grief to my own door. I've been working on a few poems of late, but please don't be concerned for me. I'm going okay (well in my professional opinion).

I desire to melt into
the noiseless void,
shed expectations
relinquish responsibilities
become deaf to hatred, anger,
