Last week marked a significant milestone in our journey to revolutionize access to health knowledge. Hosted by the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), we led a dynamic workshop in Belize. The purpose was to bring together individuals from various facets of society, specifically those with direct influence in indigenous communities. Our participants were representatives from indigenous community organizations, individuals from indigenous community radio stations, and delegates from the Belizean Ministry of Health.

Indigenous peoples around the world have been facing many challenges for centuries. They are often marginalised, displaced, and their rights are not respected. Here are 10 key facts about the state of Indigenous peoples today.

Audiopedia Foundation is on a mission to empower marginalized women by providing accessible knowledge through audio content. With a focus on developing countries, the foundation's audio platform allows for offline access using solar-powered audio players, bringing education and information to remote and rural areas where internet connectivity is unreliable. The foundation has been successfully implemented by governments, NGOs, and CBOs in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, helping to improve the lives of women as primary caregivers in their families and communities.

Solar audio players have been used by the Audiopedia Foundation since 2016 to improve health education among illiterate women in rural areas. The French anthropologist Romain Duda proposed to adapt the Audiopedia approach to the indigenous Aka culture.
