Happy Fountain Pen Day to all who celebrate. Enjoy your local stationary shop and all of the great indie retailers online, many of which are having some great sales! Don’t give Amazon your money. 💙

What your favourite writing tool? Does it change depending on your objective?

I find the way writing apps are designed vastly changed my output for daily writing:

Flowstate- honest, intuitive, surprising writing.
IA writer- > web content and more structured content.
Obsidian- linking research

Designing a card game similar to Pokemon, but for kids to “collect” cards if they eat fruit or veggies and then you can battle your cards. I’m not sure if this is the dietician approved way, but the idea is to put new foods on my picky eaters radar in an opt-in, low pressure way.

I think a lot about unintended consequences.

A while ago, there was an article describing how productivity culture had the knock-on effect that many kids didn't see a value to reading except to get information or plot summaries. 1/3

If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

The weather for Saturday is looking better than ever 😅. If you’ve been thinking about joining a #TeslaTakedown protest but haven’t, this Saturday’s Global Day of Action is the day to do it. There are at least nine events happening across the UK. Please share if you’re interested. 🧵

NEW: Elon Musk’s X has suspended accounts of Turkish opposition groups, suppressing footage of anti-government protests.

So, best we share all the footage we can here!

This was last night’s massive demo against Erdogan’s government, which follows the arrest of his rival Ekrem İmamoğlu.

The first and most important thing to know about last night's Exec order is that it's intended to break current law and allow people throughout the federal gov look at yr tax returns. Beyond that it's intended to compel states to turn over all their data to the fed govt.

There are a lot of free hobbies (travel costs excluded), but a LOT of people are afraid to be cringe, start a meetup no one attends, etc. There's this expectation your hobby needs to "impress".
“Hobbies can feel like a kind of class signifier for those who have the time and resources to cultivate them — Instagram influencers do Pilates and pottery, while the rest of us try to decide if meal prep counts as personal enrichment.”

Analysis | We should be living in the golden age of hobbies. What happened?
Work, streaming, scrolling and side-hustling are keeping us from activities that bring joy and meaning to our days.

As I said in 2020, the internet is an essential service. When an emotionally immature billionaire Reddit troll is the single point of failure for the internet, the world is not safe.

There is a lot of apprehension and anxiety in the higher education sector now. Understandably.

➡️ Folks, JOIN A UNION!

There is a reason they are there. They got you a lot of what we have today. They will be amongst the only ones who will stand with you in the coming period.

End of message.

Visited centro Juan xxiii yesterday in Madrid. It was everything you would hope for from a community support center. Warm atmosphere. Well organised. Lovely people.

There is no “pull yourself up” advice that replaces having properly funded government and community support. #yosoyjuan

The “productivity influencer to MAGA” pipeline is real.

Nearly bought a book with a title I LOVED but thought to check who the people endorsing it on the cover were following on X. NOPE.
You are who you are platforming.
