for this one i felt like it was easier to figure out the different layers/structure of his outfit if i spent some more time on doing Clean Lines.. but honestly a lot of the time i just draw the shapes first and then draw the lineart over them

YEAH i merge them + do a lot of the initial rendering on a single layer (like his face here is mostly on 1 layer after i merged the lines+flats) but then often once i start adding details i'll make a separate layer for those
