Dirt Road Souls sing about dirt roads, soul, and going home on their new single, ‘Hold on Soul’.  The Boston-based trio released this single in anticipation of their new twelve-song concept album, ‘(The Life and Times of) Johnny Moonshine’. Singer Davis Black reflects on the lyrics, “'Hold on Soul’ was first written many years ago when I had left my small town and gone off to start a life in Boston.

This is a strange song to speak about - it's in one of those topics that inspires a "what the mighty wind are you talkin' about?" when you hear it.  The Montvales on today's song were inspired, Molly Rochelson explains, by "falling in love with my partner (who initially moved to East TN to go to a Bible College where dancing wasn’t allowed) at a Knoxville dive bar.

Begin your musical week with the haunting 'Black Hats' from Atlanta gothic americana band Del Roscoe. Dark and haunting, the song is layered with atmospheric textures provided by Tim Lee's mandolin, Steve Thomas's lap steel and Debra Tala's accordion. Moody rhythms come from Paul Abrelat on bass and Matt McKenny's drums, while Yanaëlle Cornez's electric guitar and Robert Lee's vocal swirl over it all.

Having performed over 700 shows (and counting) since forming in 2019, True Foxes, the cousin duo from Cornwall, are quickly gaining recognition in the UK and beyond. Alberta singer-songwriter starts out becalmed but eventually lifts herself out of "The Doldrums". “The Doldrums” is the debut solo release from Canadian singer-songwriter Ellen Braun. She is based in Canmore, Alberta and is also a member of indie folk duo Trundled with Joe Shea. Braun recorded the 10-song collection mostly live at Montreal’s Hotel2Tango with producer Howard Bilerman. The album features a full-band performance with Stef Schneider (percussion), Sage Reynolds (upright bass), Mike O’Brien (guitars), and Sarah Hiltz (vocals and keys) and the "Nashville" choir, comprising Hiltz, Stephanie Gagnon, Laura Newman, Babette Hayward, William Kuklis, and Joseph Shea.

Alongside the news of her biggest London headline show yet, at the Royal Albert Hall on 24th October, Teeside songwriter Amelia Coburn has released a dramatic new single. Inspired by feminist writers like Angela Carter and Clarissa Pinkola Estés, 'Something Wild' is a folk anthem for anyone who feels shackled or limited by society's expectations. 'Something Wild' drives forward on an urgent rhythm and an insistent guitar riff.
