One of my biggest pet peeves:

Is when an African immigrant lyft driver plays the colonizer's worship music.

I will rate you 3 stars AT THE MOST. 🤨

To make sense of news nowadays, just remember:

Cruelty is the point with these MAGAts.

ESPECIALLY for anyone different than them.

I love that City of Gods explicitly states this:

"Create, don’t appropriate. The following ‘costumes’ are strictly prohibited: Native American ceremonial headdresses, Blackface, and weapons. As a general guideline, do not wear somebody else’s ethnic or racial background as a costume!"

Sooo...lemme see if I understand this correctly...

"States rights" as long as you agree with the state but...

National Guard and Marines when you don't.

Yeah, that's not a double standard... 🤨

Happy Pride!! 🥰

Pride PSA, especially for the cis gays:

Just because a couple isn't a same-sex passing one to you doesn't mean they're both cis/het.

So let's do our best not to perpetuate the erasure of our trans & gender-expensive, bi & pan, ace & aero, and more members of our community, this Pride & every month

Echo chamber - i believe you because your experience is the same as and reinforces my own

Diverse groups of people - i believe you although your experience is not the same as and may even challenge my own

There's a difference and we really need to stop letting people call the latter echo chambers

Artists exist without arts organizations.

Arts organizations CAN NOT exist without artists.

I don't think enough nonprofit arts orgs keep this in mind...

Not erasing history means including the simple fact that slavery in the United States happened.

Yes, even if it makes you uncomfortable and makes you questions things like the nature of legality and patriotism.

Why does "meet people where they're at" usually mean:

holding yourself back for those who've done little to no work,

instead of

encouraging them to catch up to those who've already done at least some of the work?

Just wondering. 🤨

"I think of my late grandmother Lillian McCray quite often these days...She saw a lot, maybe too much. In one of our many long talks on her Yulee, Fla., porch she said of this country, “The only time you should be surprised is when you’re surprised.”"

Opinion | Black Americans Are Not Surprised by What Trump’s Doing (Gift Article)
Many Black Americans are not surprised by the way Trump is running roughshod over the rule of law, because they have seen it happen throughout American history.

So... let me get this straight...

When the free market benefits other countries—even if it means some wealth flows out of the U.S.—that’s a problem...

…but when a handful of billionaires extract massive wealth from everyday consumers, often in predatory ways, that’s totally fine?

Did i get it? 🤨

Does he think the job market will just expand overnight to absorb all these federal layoffs?

More people, fewer jobs—what could go wrong? 🤨

H/t Them

Trans people to the front, today — and everyday!

This is a pro-Trans space. And I won't claim to be safe but will work to be accountable.

Exhausted by cis Black men making excuses for each other talking about "nuance"...

You know who else talked about "nuance", when it comes to "privilege"? Slave owners.

It's frustrating being at a Black-led org with an ED who on one hand says that we're committed to DEI (or our "version", IDEA) but ALSO still regularly says that "telework is a privilege"...

The fact that The Kennedy Center board has historically been NOTORIOUSLY bipartisan...

...this should tell you everything you need to know about the rights attempted and successful efforts to KEEP moving things their way.

Dear white people:

If a group admin/moderator and/or community leader asks you to respond to something...

...the thing NOT to do is say "thanks but no thanks" and then call an attempt at accountability "toxic". 🤨
