In the coming weeks and months, don't expect anything from @democrats.org in the U.S. in opposition to Trump. Canada, Mexico, Denmark, non-fascists in Germany, UK, France and rest of the Western world needs to band together, without any help from American liberals. They can't rise to this moment.

The biggest learning of the late-19th to mid-20th century was that trade wars are bad, and they lead to military wars. It's one reason why the UN Charter, pushed for by Americans, specifically condemns tariffs that violate trade agreements. Trump is undoing a 150 years of learning and progress.

Here's the speech if you haven't heard it. 13 minutes of your time. Share it with your American friends and neighbours, because they won't see it otherwise. Circulate it in Mexico and Denmark, France and the UK, Panama and Germany, Poland and Estonia, and especially -- especially -- Ukraine.

The @democrats.org "winning" message in this moment is we deported more people than Trump? The Democrats are the most useless, clueless liberal political entity in the Western world, this is why Trump is getting away with everything, because his opposition is total garbage.

Are Doug Ford and the Ontario Conservatives up to some shady shit as usual? There’s no way I should be on the “PC Ontario Fund” database, I suspect they’re accessing voter contacts from other sources just as they did in 2018.

I’m begging rudderless liberal parties and politicians in the West to embrace the backlash against tech billionaires. The “techlash” is real, people feel it, but it needs to be nurtured politically. Instead of being completely useless, @democrats.org could make this their thing, but they won’t.

Yes, let’s have liberalism with a backbone again. US Democrats are useless, Macron & Scholz are on their political deathbeds in France & Germany, respectively. There’s a global liberalism void to be filled where Carney and Starmer (UK) could lead the way by standing up to Trump and Musk.

In a caravan of mistakes made by @democrats.org in Joe Biden's last year, banning TikTok is among the stupidest. Quite the streak of getting everything wrong for 12-14 months, culminating with free advertising for Donald Trump to tens of millions of Americans. US liberalism needs a hard reset.

We're back to an era where a leader of a Western nation decides he can just take other countries, and it's coming from the US, the country that put an end to that sort of thing (covert CIA operations notwithstanding). What's next, Donald Trump starts wearing a pointy helmet like Kaiser Wilhelm?

This is what Justin Trudeau should've been saying from the outset instead of waiting until he resigned. Canadians like liberals who show steel (St. Laurent, Pearson, P. Trudeau, Chretien - all benefited from muscular liberalism), and there had been flashes of it in J. Trudeau, but all too fleeting.

Liverpool didn't start playing until United went ahead. Opportunity lost here, the Mancs weren't anything special, our side looked off for most of the match, then got careless again up 2-1. Hopefully some key players get a rest at midweek, play youngsters and Endo in the league cup.

This unholy alliance between tech bros and right wing politics should be the defining fight of our generation if you're a liberal. Sadly the most influential liberal party in the world that could and should be making opposition gains out of this, @democrats.org, are completely asleep at the wheel.

What do @democrats.org offer and to whom? Who is this party for anymore other than beltway insiders like consultants, pundits and lobbyists? After losing every branch of the government they’re still hanging out with and celebrating Liz Cheney because they’re determined to learn nothing.

That Elon Musk is one of only two paid subscribers to a pro-apartheid, South African white supremacist account that thrives on his website is the least surprising thing you'll learn today. Elon is vile, and he will be ruling the world's most powerful country through surrogacy just because he's rich.

This Colin Jost #SNL episode is emblematic of today’s malaise in liberalism: not understanding the moment. People don’t trust systems that are letting them down. Conservatives respond with false promises to make bad people pay, while liberals prefer to scold critics instead of seizing on the anger.

Elon Musk's attempt to normalize AfD is very similar to something he did in the US presidential campaign. Musk funded ads falsely claiming Ruth Bader Ginsburg held the same abortion views as Donald Trump. In his recent tweets, Musk is saying AfD has the same policies as Barack Obama, another lie.
Elon Musk and JD Vance publicly supporting the neo-Nazis of Germany's AfD, just as an AfD supporter/Elon Musk fan kills 5 and injures 100+ in a terrorist attack at a Christmas market in Germany. Vance's pro-AfD statement came *after* the attack.
It's bad. Not sure what else to say. Dark times ahead.

What's happening in the United States right now is extraordinary. They've basically gone back to being a monarchy except the new king, "president Elon Musk" is somehow even less accountable to the public than a monarch might be. The natural endpoint of modern conservatism is anti-democratic chaos.

Donald Trump wanting to suspend the debt ceiling for two years is a big indication he and his co-president Elon Musk will rob the treasury by giving themselves and/or allies huge government contracts. The Republican holdouts will fall in line once they get a piece of the action.

Crazy that the most dangerous man in a Trump admin could be a ... Kennedy. Being a PR-oriented politician, RFK Jr. will say the right things on the surface to satisfy Americans, then backchannel his batshit ideas into health policy to harm people at home and abroad, particularly in US foreign aid.
Just a reminder that in 2019, RFK Jr.'s anti-vaccine misinformation campaign helped cause a measles outbreak in Samoa that killed 83 people, mostly kids.

Do you really want him to lead the Department of Health and Human Services?

This year @aoc.bsky.social traded her "outsider" credentials hoping to get more support with the Democratic establishment, but in the end they shunned her and closed ranks around insiders. There's no reason to support @democrats.org right now. American liberalism is a gerontocracy on its deathbed.
