The NASDAQ Index over the past year- you can literally see the time that Donald Trump became US President 🙄

Twitter is basically unusable with the right wing bots.

The scariest prospect is these faceless accounts shaping public opinion

It benefits us all for our neighbours not be destitute & starving.

The money invested in welfare comes back to community businesses & alleviates some strain on health care systems & homeless facilities.

Arguing for welfare cuts is cruel, but it is also economically illiterate

Still can’t get over #GAACatfish from The 2 Johnnies.

I barely had time to listen to the 3 hour long podcasts & I am now discovering that there are people out there who can co-ordinate multiple online identities, co-ordinate the relationships, all while holding down a full time job

So we got a new member of the family today

Welcome to the family Woody

Christmas List progress- Getting there, better than usual #Christmas2024
December 7, 2024 at 10:50 AM
Is this happening for anyone else?

Feels like this site is still working out a few kinks
December 2, 2024 at 10:13 PM
Right, now that #GE24 is over, I think we are getting into a quieter time where the biggest stories will be Christmas related.

No better time for me to move my primary platform to Bluesky
December 2, 2024 at 10:11 PM
I am both dumbfounded and a little bit envious of anyone who can allow an election to go past without engaging at all.

For so many people (41% at least) the past 3 weeks have just been normal November/December days in the run up to Christmas- bizarre #GE24

I strongly believe that there will be a time in the future when countries like Britain will look back and wish that inward migration had been even higher
NEW: Net migration to the UK stood at a provisional 728,000 in the year to June 2024, down 20% from 906,000 for the year to June 2023

One thing that has REALLY bothered me over the past few days is the number of young men who have almost instinctively lined up behind Conor McGregor.

I have two sons and I would genuinely be horrified if they were spouting this stuff 15-20 years from now
November 27, 2024 at 11:11 PM
Well Twitter became absolutely unusable during the immigration debate of #RTEUpfront
November 25, 2024 at 11:32 PM
This is more than enough reason to move to alternatives

The big advantage of Twitter (in the day) was getting news in real time, but if thats not true anymore, then what even is the point? www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...
Elon Musk’s X is throttling traffic to websites he dislikes
The delayed websites include X’s online rivals Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky and Substack as well as Reuters and the New York Times, all of which Musk previously has singled out for ridicule or attack.

Vote Maria McCormack in Laois! #GE24
November 23, 2024 at 3:56 PM
Enjoying Bluesky so far and glad to see people are moving over.

I think after #GE24 is over, I’m going to make this my main platform with Twitter/X very much secondary
November 20, 2024 at 12:56 PM
I don’t know if I’m even looking forward to #RTEUpfront tonight… 10 leaders is an absolutely insane number to have on a single stage.

If they want to give each leader equal time, they will each get about 5 minutes or less

If Americans (and those within the ‘international community’), had any sense, they would be far more outraged at this decision than any of Trump’s cabinet picks.

This has the potential to throw us all into a global war

Biden lifts ban on Ukraine using US arms to strike inside Russia
The decision is a major change in U.S. policy and comes as Donald Trump, who has promised to limit further support for Ukraine, prepares to take office.

Get this man out of office NOW

He’s throwing a lit match behind him as he goes out the door

The first thing that jumps out at me is that Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael voters are essentially identical when it comes to choosing a 2nd preference #GE24

The writing is on the wall for #UkraineWar - Between this and Trump 2.0, it’s definitely going to be wound up over 2025

What a shame that it took so long to get to this point.

So Bluesky, what are your recommendations for Irish based podcasts?

Interested in getting more that are actually based at home #Podcasts

The winds are definitely shifting in #UkraineWar and if people care about preserving lives, that can only be a good thing www.reuters.com/world/europe...

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has said Ukraine must do all it can to ensure the war with Russia ends next year through diplomacy.

Sigh… This lasted a week until all the stocks torpedoed because of Trump’s insane cabinet choices
November 15, 2024 at 9:51 PM
Have somehow managed to get back into #FairCity over the past few weeks, and didn’t foresee this.

Haven’t watched the show in years and suddenly saying things like like ‘awk that’s classic Dolores’
November 15, 2024 at 7:52 PM
I swear I was cool and laid back like 5 minutes ago.

Now I have somehow become the…. Strict parent
