Reading is costly, but it is the cheapest form of travel and living a thousand lives—teleportation for the price of a paperback.

Which is better?

1. A re-read of 𝘈 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘮𝘢𝘴 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘭?

Or,

2. A 𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘈𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦 franchise marathon?

You know it's peak pessimism when a novel has lines like:

“Happiness was but the occasional episode in a general drama of pain.”

Just Thomas Hardy things.

Can you say which novel?

Grant me all the time in the world to conquer my insanely huge TBR pile.

A voice replies:

Too ambitious for a slow reader.

Getting distracted by the world when you try to read a book is seriously annoying.

And those intrusive thoughts - Where y'all at when I actually sit down to write?

When it gets closer to December, Ed Sheeran and Elton John’s "Merry Christmas" starts ringing in my head.

Ever since this song was released three years ago, it has become my definition of Christmas time.

It’s like I have forgotten every other song!

Coca-Cola killed-off Santa Claus!

That was a shocker!

Maybe not.

There'll be more failed attempts like this in the future.

But I hope for even more backlashes 🤞

We are all eyes when a woman becomes a Sherlock Holmes in her own right.

Watched it and loved it.

Meticulously crafted thriller!

Festive season is almost here! 🧑‍🎄

What kind of books do you like to read in December as Christmas arrives?

Happy or sad?

I like books which have descriptions of snow or gives me real chills.

Often those turn out to be spooky or melancholic and makes me feel like I'm knee-deep in snow ❄️

Another poignant story by Nobel winner Han Kang.

Of intimacy, loss, memory, grief and unspoken emotions.

Like the title, the feelings induced by this one are heavy. Your heart feels like it's amidst a snow storm.

Not a light read.
Classic Han Kang!💙📚

I'd dnf-ed 𝓐 𝓒𝓱𝓻𝓲𝓼𝓽𝓶𝓪𝓼 𝓒𝓪𝓻𝓸𝓵 last year.

But yesterday, when I saw @lntubbs.bsky.social's post, I felt oddly Christmassy☃️ and picked it up again. Now I can't remember why I dnf-ed it.

Dickens's humour is really doing it for me this time.

Although transgender people only represent less than 2% of the population, they are under constant attack, and we need to fight for their rights. There is no reason that people cannot be who they are.

Stumbling on a book without prior knowledge is like two strangers falling in love.

It's serendipitous!✨

When was the last time you picked up a book with pure gut feeling and it turned out to be one of your favourites?

For me, it was Sang Young Park's "Love in the Big City."
