Update on the "film rewind fail": bulk load length was fine (actually probably a couple frames too long). But the tape had come undone from the spool in the reloadable canister. Reattached in changing bag, and was able to then rewind as normal in-camera.

That moment when you try to rewind your 35mm camera and meet zero resistance on the rewind crank.

I know I made sure it was loaded right at the start.

Which probably means my bulk-roll was a frame or two short and I pulled the taped end out of the canister. Oops.

To the changing bag, Batman!

This winter has been a lot. We're making up for the lack of winter the last 3 years, it would seem. Aside from walking the beagles (Jack likes to eat snow, Willow just wanted to get back inside ASAP), I did get out there a few times with the 4x5 Toyo AX to shoot some #ilford #HP5+ sheets.

Why I'm moving to concentrate my online effort around photography in just two places: here, and on my own website.

Master Of My Fate
My issue with social media platforms is that they are transient. Not guaranteed. The future is decidedly uncertain. This is why I’m focusing my efforts on my own website, that I control.

Starting to put content up over on Substack! I think there and here on BlueSky are going to be the places I focus my online attention most.
My Color Period
I know, I said black and white is my first love. But sometimes we succumb to weakness and go astray.

Just received the Reflected Light zines volumes 1 & 2 from @benhorne.bsky.social . Beautifully packaged and presented. I love reading the stories behind the photos almost as much as looking at the photos!

I admit that while I don't think it's healthy to define self-worth based on social media "likes", it *is* nice to realize that here they're nearly all from real accounts (as opposed to spam accounts which have little/no content but a bio link to an OnlyFans page. Oh IG, how did you go so wrong?)

Huge win from @franzanth.bsky.social creating a Content Scraper Blocklist: bsky.app/profile/cont...

It's a blocklist for the kinds of engagement bait accounts that repost stolen content, often with misleading captions.

Another Sinar F #4x5 shot on #Ilford #FP4+. This is looking across the Roanoke River at sunset, at Green Hill Park near Salem, Virginia. #river #landscape #trees #rocks #monochrome #blackandwhite #istillshootfilm #believeinfilm #largeformatphotography

My family photo project continues. The thing that’s amazing is that photos, negatives &/or slides can be retrieved after years. Generations of photos can still be retrieved & digitized today. Think if the billions of family photos on cell phones/hard drives that are thrown away or can’t be retrieved

Hey look! First post, and it's one of my 4x5 large format landscapes. With trees. I have a thing for trees, if my collection of photographs is any indication. You should probably expect more trees where this came from.
