In 2022, California voters approved Proposition 28: The Arts and Music in Schools (AMS) Funding Guarantee and Accountability Act. The measure required the state to establish a new, ongoing program supporting arts instruction in schools.

What an incredible 2025 for ARTSCCC! Since launching the Youth Arts Connection, it's been a joy to watch this program flourish. Our young artists bring so much inspiration to workshops, and we are so proud of the vibrant community we’ve built together. Thank you for being the heart of all we do!

ARTSCCC's Program, Marketing and Community Outreach Manager, Esther Rojas Soto, participated in the East Bay Open Studios at Toki Studio in Richmond with a small group of artists including fellow Richmond artists, John Toki and Armin Haghnejad.

Our friend and partner, Shani Shay of Incarceration to College was featured on the news! Shani's work through ITC makes education an accessible option for incarcerated youth in Alameda, Contra Costa and San Francisco Counties and has served more than 1,000 students across these three counties.

With support from the Contra Costa Together Community Grant, ARTSCCC (Arts Contra Costa County) will secure a Youth Arts Connection program to serve one of Contra Costa County’s most vulnerable populations, youth at John A. Davis Juvenile Hall in Martinez.

We are still reflecting on what a beautiful reception we had for the current "Art Passages" at the county building in Martinez! This exhibit highlights 7 amazing Contra Costa County photographers, and we had the opportunity to gather to celebrate them and their art!

Contra Costa County is fortunate to have Brennan DeFrisco as the “Poetry Out Loud” coordinator again for this year's competition. Last week we met at El Molino in Concord to share a meal and discuss the program in preparation for the county competition on February 7, 2026.

We had the honor of attending Donté Clark's reading from his latest work "WE CRY FREEDOM", at the Tarea Hall Pittman South Berkeley Library. Donté Clark, also known as DONBLAK, is a poet, actor, and filmmaker from Richmond, CA.

This Giving Tuesday, ARTSCCC is asking for your assistance to help feed youth ages 12 to 18 at our Youth Arts Connection workshops in Antioch, Brentwood & Pittsburg! The workshops occur during dinner time & just $150 can pay for food for up to 30 kids at one workshop!

Looking back to earlier this year when Art Passages featured Art of the African Diaspora for our Jan-Apr exhibit. We are excited to announce that we will be partnering with AOTAD again in 2026! Going up on January 5th, Irene Bee Kain has curated an exciting exhibit featuring 5 new artists.

Meet Epperson Gallery! Established in 1996 in Crockett, CA, Epperson Gallery is a cultural cornerstone for the Bay Area art community. The gallery operates as a thriving creative hub, featuring seven artist studios, a sculpture workshop, and a painting workshop.

At an artist reception at Epperson Gallery in Crockett last week! The exhibit features small
works by Richmond sculptor, John Toki, and paintings by artist Diane Ding. The exhibit is on view until January 4, 2026.

This #VeteransDay, ARTSCCC honors our Lead Advisor, Ben Miyaji. A Vietnam-Era Veteran, Ben is also a tireless arts advocate who has served on commissions across the Bay Area and officiated 6,000+ weddings. Thank you for your lifetime of service, Ben!

Last week, we attended a gathering for the launch of Nilou Khonsari's new book, The Future is Collective at the Tarea Hall Pittman Library in Berkeley. The book is a guide for people in organizations who want to align their workplace culture with their collective values.
