Now that the script is done for the final season of QE, my mind inevitably wanders towards the Next Thing. Don't have a lot of time for it yet, but here's some of my early exploratory character sketches!

Had to ask a store owner today if it was okay to take some reference pictures inside his shop and completely confused him, I swear my brain short-circuits whenever I need to talk to a stranger 🫥

I'm too busy for bonus art at the moment due to being 100% in comic panel mode, but this is Kai. Kai likes puns and dad jokes.
Second character named after one of my son's classmates, which he thinks is hilarious (for now).

Finally able to use this background I painted as a speed paint demo for youtube last year. Starring Autumn and Kai, new characters in season 2.

Coloured that sketch! I think I will always prefer my artwork with that semi-sketchy lineart feel, even with reasonably realistic shading.

I've been in a sketching mood the last couple of days. Working from model sheets for the comic is great for saving time but since I'm almost never drawing the characters from scratch I feel like my art stagnates a little. Freehand, no reference art is good for my soul.

My son kept insisting that his plush octopus named Mimi be put into the comic, so I finally found a way to oblige.
