Work in progress. Big mixed media collage on watercolor paper. Thinking about the reproductive cycle of people with uteruses. Haven’t posted here in a minute but thinking about trying to do more.

First class will be Gelli Plate Printmaking on April 4 from 6-8pm.

Three pieces I’m working on for an open call at Second Street Gallery in Charlottesville, VA. The show is called Teeny Tiny Trifecta and it’s an annual fundraiser with three works from each participating artist in a small uniform size.
A series of three 8x8” pieces of artwork by artist, Molly McCracken. Each contains half of a car cut from an old National Geographic magazine in the lower right hand third of the substrate - the car on the left piece is red, the middle piece is white with a red roof, and the right piece has a mustard yellow car with a white roof. On the left in all three pieces of art is a squiggly green tree like shape and behind each car is a white space with a pink and yellow piece of tissue paper, making a vertical column behind the car. Each car has green puffy lines coming out of where the exhaust would be. The background is different colors of green and there are some yellow marks and hot pink lines. Overall, these artworks are abstract and somewhat hard to describe.

Best way to start the day is with my studio assistant and neon paint.

I just spent 15 minutes trying to Alt text this piece and then accidentally swiped down and it all disappeared. Frustration. If you want to show this body of work, let me know. I was going to apply for a show with it, but didn’t get the application in because of all the stuff going on.
A large wood board on a white wall with a piece of artwork thumbtacked to it by artist Molly McCracken. This mixed media Collage is approximately 72 x 48“ and as a part of a series of artworks detailing the inner workings of the artist’s body. Starting at the left of the work, there are green shapes and white shapes with neon yellow and orange circles in between. There are also white and gray and purple stripes, curving around. Along the bottom there is a red and pink line and some pink tissue paper circles just above that. Right in the center there is a blue sort of circular shape into its right a gray funnel shape coming down from the top vertically, and then going down to the bottom the rest of the way. On the right of the piece, there are numerous vertical lines intersected by a curving horizontal line about halfway up the paper. At the bottom, the lines are primarily black, green and magenta, and above the middle the lines are primarily purple, blue, and black. At the far right, there is an orange line along the border. It is difficult to fully describe the layers of Collage paint, drawing and other media, but it is very bright and colorful with lots of shape and line and texture.

I have 4 pieces going up at She:DC through Shop Made in DC. One will be at the Georgetown shop (first image) and three will be at the pop up annex gallery in the Union Market shopping district in NE DC (second image).
For artworks in the corner of a room with a potted plant in the very corner that looks a little bit dead. On the left, there are two stools and a tiny bit of a corner of a table next to that on the back wall is a 16 x 20“ mixed media collage in pinks and blues by artist Molly McCracken entitled Lost and Finding. Next to that artwork is a slightly larger, pink and green floral artwork. On the other side of the potted plant along the side, wall is a white and beige abstract artwork, approximately the same size as the pink and green floral. Then closest to the viewer on the right hand sideis an even larger abstract, mostly blues and whites with a pop of orangey red in the middle. A large gallery space with white walls and concrete floor with concrete column, running up the middle and three or four artworks, leaning up against the wall to the left and three artworks, leaning up against the wall to the right of the column. Two of the artworks are by artist, Molly McCracken, the two closest to the column on either side to the left of the column is a purple and blue abstract mixed media artwork 20 x 16“ entitled, Tangled and Unfurling and to the right is a red and black mixed media abstract 16 x 20 entitled Inside Out. All of these works will be a part of Shop Made in DC’s March show called She:DC.

Jumping into something new with high hopes!
A collage made by artist molly McCracken cut from old National Geographic magazines.
