So can we start calling this thing "the shitty chatbot that kills you?"
Because calling Panera's product "the lemonade that kills you" got them to act super fast.

Creatives need your support. If you have the means, maybe consider signing up for a Patreon. Buy a book, a game, a painting. Commission a new piece. Tell a creator what they mean to you. Signal boost their work.

I just checked: We need just *TWENTY-FIVE* more copies sold to reach 400 units. Let's do this thing! 💖
It's official! We just announced that we're publishing a new magazine, inventively titled "Anime Herald Magazine." It's priced at $17.95 and will include ten new articles from some of the field's foremost authorities when it ships in November.
You can preorder your copy at shop.animeherald.com

This is a bad deal for Americans.
Voters turned out in record numbers last wk to elect Democrats believing they would fight for working families.
We urge Senate Dems to vote NO on the reported GOP budget package, which fails to address the devastating health care crisis.

Does the Light Novel Translation Process Need AI?
As machine translation tools under the banner of AI become increasingly accessible and easy to use, the light novel landscape is at a crossroads. Do light novel publishers compromise their product for...

Two decades of living-room jam sessions with plastic instruments: today marks the 20th anniversary of the original Guitar Hero

Once you start thinking of AI as a war on humanity, on human thought, on human inquiry, on human labor, on nuance and critical thinking, it slots in pretty seamlessly with the right wing ideological project, oligarchical political projects, big tech's political projects, etc

You don't need me to tell you this is yet more good money being burned after bad. But as someone who's worked with that QA team, I'll say they're unsung heroes who truly play a huge role in maintaining SE's reputation for high quality locs and to attempt to replace them with AI is deeply insulting.
Square Enix wants 70% of its QA work to be handled by generative AI by the end of 2027, in partnership with the University of Tokyo's Matsuo-Iwasawa Laboratory. https://bit.ly/4qKdyQR

Moms for Liberty reports wins in districts in Alaska, Colorado, Iowa (city council), Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
As @heykellyjensen.bsky.social notes, the group's power is diminished. BUT they also aren't the only conservative group in the mix.
We still have miles to go...

Viral posts about how Moms For Liberty had zero wins on election night...aren't true. They're misinformation, even dis-info.
M4L did have a number of school board candidates win. You can verify that information pretty easily.
They had *A LOT* of losses and their power isn't what it once was.

The problem isn't that good anime isn't be made anymore, it's that good anime isn't being properly MARKETED anymore.
If it's not a battle shonen, good luck getting any of these streaming platforms to properly promote it. Crunchyroll included

To my fellow oldtaku:
It’s not that anime is worse overall now. There’s just so much being made at once that it’s harder to find the good stuff. It’s worth trying, though! Some of the best shows I’ve ever seen have been in the last five years!
