Just wondering what exactly do we need the US Supreme Court for. Seems like a clerk could decide last minute if death penalty executions should proceed or not. They seem like rubber stamps for the party that appointed them, even long after that party is or is not in power. What's the point?

The felon/rapist is unhappy that people in Gaza who are watching their children die every day of starvation have not said "thank you" to the US. If your children were starving to death in front of your eyes every day, would you really be thinking that you should be thanking someone for a crumb?

Watching video of the brutal beating and detention of the undocumented father of 3 US Marines just brings me to my knees with grief over the status of this country under the felon/rapist. Is this is what being a "great" America would be? Why would anyone want this?

Does anyone have a tally of how many of the current admin peeps are "Christian"? It's hard to tell based on their actions. I don't believe being Christian is the only way to treat others according to the Golden Rule. Hard to believe Christ him/herself would be treating human beings like this.

Just got email from Social Security that statement of benefits available on web site. I reviewed & noticed a subtle change. Says that since this information is available on the web site there would be no future paper mailing "unless requested." Works for me, but probably not for many. DOGE at work??

The great reach of higher education is also a huge vulnerability. Both as an experience and an institution it’s encountered most intimately by lots of people when young adults and again as parents. And rarely in either case can they appreciate it as an industry that requires expertise to operate.

Wondering if I should learn Russian language or some Chinese dialect in preparation for when this country is taken over by a strong authoritarian. Not convinced the felon and his band of merry men (& OK, a few weak women) can salvage this sinking ship of their own making.

As a Catholic child in the 1950s, I was told to pray for the "conversion of Russia." Had no idea what that meant then or now. Did all the praying do something, and if so, what?
