I like Costco a lot but I don’t think they should make me run a gauntlet of third-party salespeople to leave the store

I think you have to do it wrong many times to start to get the hang of it. True both in terms of developing skills over time and also just completing a specific project. I’ve been taught this lesson so many times but it’s a hard one to internalize.
Whenever I do work I’m proud of, I’m struck by how much stuff I throw out. Not talking “kill your darlings” here, rather false starts, restarts, just completely trashing and reworking large pieces.

I fear the answer is: MAGA has not seen enough and wants more, and everyone else has seen enough and will be content to have it hidden from sight.

I hope not!

I’ve been doing NYT games lately and they all seem to get very easy very fast, except for Spelling Bee, which I find unaccountably frustrating. Finally got a genius score yesterday but it is very slow going.

Here is where I’m starting to lean with LLMs: a tool is useful if it helps a human overcome a limitation. It’s a truism that our problem now isn’t too little information, it’s too much. LLMs can read, process, and summarize far more than a person can, and they never get tired of answering questions.

Donald Trump is withholding billions of dollars in New York infrastructure unless he gets Penn Station and Dulles Airport named after him.

This is not only brazenly corrupt. It is sick, twisted and egomaniacal. The time is long overdue for sane Republicans to stand up to Trump.
