I think a lot about how most big-city newspapers used to have a a couple of movie critics, a theater critic, a few book critics, an architecture critic, a music critic or two, an in-house cartoonist, at least two or three foreign correspondents, a fashion writer, and a whole staff of photographers

I wasn’t really expecting to hear my Australian 🇦🇺 (!) uber driver in Berlin listening to a black pill podcast last night, but here we are. He also was one of those Aussies who *did not* want to talk about where he was from in Aus - even which state. Which is… odd.

I’m on a train. I’m being recorded on CCTV on board, at the stations, etc. this just a fact of modern life. But why do I object to being in the background of a selfie the person in front of me is taking? Anyway, hope you enjoy the funny faces I was making.

In a hotel and can’t be bothered to figure out the Chromecast connection, so I’m watching regular TV and it is serving up the 1995 Steven Seagal classic Under Seige 2: Dark Territory. You know. The one where he’s on a train with terrorists that are using the train to hack a spy satellite. No notes.

I’m watching the 1993 action classic DEMOLITION MAN. It holds upwell. I’m disappointed that the version I’m seeing replaces “in the future all restaurants are Taco Bell” with Pizza Hut. & apparently Lori Petty was in the Sandra Bullock role but left after a few days due to “creative differences”
