Lots of nonprofits working on the ground on climate resiliency. They're doing amazing work.

This may be true, but there are many soft skills you can transfer (: I follow a couple of ex-Academics on LinkedIn who coach PhDs into industry even if it's different from what they study

I think we can be better, but most are not. Most people are either very comfortable and privileged - while others are barely hanging on by a thread. There is no sense of unity in this country. Countries like France have a strong national identity. US is a melting pot, people are too scared here.

I couldn't tell you but in my office, new grants are no longer being offered. But the current students are safe because they have been disbursed. A lot is up in the air right now - I don't even think university admin has the answer. I hope everything works out for you, sending you love ♡

It's time to pivot to entrepreneurship/corporate, the next four years seem very unstable. A motto I've learned to accept/tolerate is we need to support ourselves before we support others. Figuring out our place in the system while keeping our ethical framework is the first step.

Most Americans are too comfortable/exhausted to strike. Unfortunately, many people here don't have that national pride to protect themselves.

Academia might be the biggest pyramid scheme in the world with both passionates and opportunists. It's really disheartening but the good ones keep the fight going.
