Did You Know Sunday
Did you know that the steps at Dublin City Hall are not original? A collapse in 1814 killed some Dubliners waiting to see an criminal punished. It was 1866 before the current steps were constructed.

Congratulations to Irish architect Níall McLaughlin, who is to receive 2026 Royal Gold Medal for architecture.

Educated in Dublin and studied architecture at University College Dublin between 1979 and 1984.

The best late 19th century magazine was undoubtedly The Engineer. 19th century me, assuming I wasn't a rural Irish peasant, would have loved it. An article can a new locomotive, the next a bridge, or a steamship, or a widget making machine, or a giant train mounted gun, or a modular exhibition hall.
