To ease you into the weekend, here's a lovely film by Guy Schofield, one of two winners of this year's President’s Award.
The film is about an interactive mural commissioned by York Museums Trust for the exhibition Star Carr: Life After The Ice.
Enjoy! 😊

Only if you’re ‘measuring’ a certain way. Steiner kids don’t even start formal reading till they’re 7, and it’s not a problem (in fact, a benefit! More creativity & play). Same in Scandinavian countries. What’s more significant is the lack of contact with others that Covid restrictions caused.
Children who missed part of their reception year were three months behind in reading.

Not the only institutions to do this over the next couple of years, I’m sure. The idea of a ‘super-University’ is nonsense, stated in a bid to try and make this sound like a good thing. Oh dear …

If I've been rather quiet of late, that's because there's not much to say now about the university crisis. We've passed beyond the stage at which warnings can do much good, and we're not looking at a planned reconstruction or new policies so much as individual rescue and salvage. (1/?)
This week's university redundancies are the following:
*Bangor
*Cardiff Met
*De Montfort
*Liverpool Hope
*Plymouth
*Suffolk
That's after last week's Aberdeen, Arts Uni Bournemouth, Durham, Exeter, Falmouth, Greenwich, Keele, Newcastle, Nottingham and Trinity St Davids.

Two key (& big!) questions for @drbeth.bsky.social’s workshop - which would be good to reflect on in our day-to-day jobs, I think - “As managers, how do we support people doing research?”
