Last week in #limnology I realized I could mirror what I was seeing on the fancy scope onto the tv screens in our new teaching lab. This brought me so much joy🤩 This is #micrasterias The bilateral symmetry and the clear separation (isthmus) between the semi-cells is a characteristic of #desmids

Fenland preparing for winter. Whorled Water-milfoil (Myriophyllum verticillatum) forming dense, dark-green turions which will keep the plant safe in the cold.

Pulled these out of one our sample sites today. Both plants are sold by local nurseries, so it was only a matter of time before they ended up out here😭 Pontederia crassipes #waterhyacinth and Pistia stratiotes #waterlettuce #invasiveplants #aquaticplants #aquaticinvasives

Made two new ecojars for our intro bio lab coordinators. The jars have snails, zooplankton, phytoplankton, and aquatic plants. These are easy to make and maintain if you have access to a pond to replenish the jars with water. I have a jar still going strong from summer 2020. #aquaticplants
