Senate Bill 70, which will help crack down on the crime rings that organize cruel animal fights, had its final floor vote today and passed with a unanimous vote of 60-0. The bill's next stop will be the Governor's desk where the bill awaits her signature so it can pass into law.

House Bill 284, which aims to protect and humanely manage free-roaming horses, is still moving forward as we await committee hearings. House Bill 113 is scheduled for a hearing this afternoon—We will have updates for you later today.

Senate Bill 70, which adds dog fighting and cockfighting to our state's RICO statute, has passed out of its last committee with a unanimous "do pass" vote of 10 in support of the bill. Its next stop will be the House floor.

Call your state representative and encourage them to vote YES on SB 70!

On March 5, HB 284 passed the House Floor with a 54-4 vote. It is now scheduled to be heard by the Senate Conservation Committee on Tuesday, March 11th.

On March 8, HB 113 passed in a 58-0 vote on the House floor. Next it will have to go through at least one Senate committee and receive a Senate floor vote before March 22

One day, every puppy and every kitten born will have a home. Until then, we won’t stop fighting for affordable, accessible spay/neuter options in New Mexico.
We are continuing to monitor the progress of disbursing the spay/neuter funds collected through SB 57 and will share updates as they occur.

We just got word that House Bill 113, the Animal Welfare Trust Fund, has $7 million earmarked in the state budget! A huge thanks to Rep. Tara Lujan for her tireless work on this bill. Stay with us as we push to ensure that HB 113 is fully funded.

On February 8th, SB 5 passed out of the Senate Conservation Committee in a 5-3 vote. It is now awaiting hearing in the Senate Finance Committee.
