One of my favourite Van Dyck’s. I found myself lost in this work and wasn’t quite sure why but by filling the horizontal canvas it brings the scene closer to us as if we are part of the unfolding tragedy. I love this composition. Photos I took at The KMSKA Antwerp circa 1640.

Savoldo’s Mary Magdalene, the gold version photos I took last month in The Ufizzi and photos I took last week at The NG London. And while I love both these paintings I think The Ufizzi (prototype) is beautiful. 💙
