Aphasia CRE – Recruiting Conversation Partners for a Communication Assessment We’re inviting conversation pairs to take part in an exciting research study exploring how people communicate interesting pictures to a conversation partner. This work will help us improve how communication for people with aphasia is assessed and supported. 💬 👉 We’re looking for pairs of conversation partners (e.g., friends, family members).

The Aphasia CRE office will be closed over the Christmas and New Year period from 20th Dec to 4th Jan. Miranda Rose In the past few weeks we have been celebrating the official retirement of our beloved Director, Emeritus Professor Miranda Rose. The Aphasia CRE was Miranda's vision and she worked tirelessly towards the aim of an Australia wide collaboration betweeen multi-disciplinqary professionals to advance the research around aphaisa to better support people with aphasia and their familes and friends and the achievements under her guidance during the last 7 years have been nothing but amazing.

We are excited that the Aphasiology Symposium of Australasia 2025 is on next week! There has been a lot happening with the event preparations and 29 speakers getting ready to share their amazing work with you. We are looking forward to seeing everyone. The Symposium is held over 2 days on 27th and 28th November and the opportunity for professional development for clinicians is fantastic.

When care gets lost in translation: Clinical pathways and outcomes for people with aphasia who need an interpreter. Presentation by: Dr Kathleen Mellahn National quantitative data and qualitative insights from multidisciplinary healthcare professionals and interpreters will be presented, spanning the hyperacute, acute, and early sub-acute phases of stroke recovery. The findings highlight disparities in care and outcomes for culturally and linguistically diverse people with aphasia and explore mechanisms contributing to these inequities.
