Sometime Sweetie chooses to sleep in positions that don’t make it conducive for me to also sleep in my (aka her) bed. So what do I do? Twist myself into ridiculous shapes bc I refuse to disturb the princess puppy’s sleep.

I’m currently laying in bed and making myself cry watching this video of baby Sweetie bc she was so cute. Mind you she’s currently laying right next to me in bed but I’m still making myself emotional lol

Crappy video ss but I’m so happy with Dakota’s weight now. Her top line also is getting slightly better despite not working much. I still want her just a little heavier going into winter but it’s still soooo much better than the other month. Proof that summer just isn’t her friend. 🫠

I had to deworm the horses tonight and couldn’t get the cap off Dakota’s. So ofc I used my teeth and I *may* have gotten a little bit in my mouth. But at least now I won’t get cancer or COVID!

Dakota has an abscess rn and is convinced she’s dying. After attempting to soak her foot today I’ve decided I’d rather deal with her post surgery again than this. I think she lasted a whole 5 minutes before spilling the Epsom salt concoction. Send thoughts and prayers for both of us. 🫠

I let my friend borrow my bridle bc she doesn’t have one for her new horse yet. This is how she put it back, aka nothing like how it was. My eye is twitching.

I love when people at the barn think it’s funny that Dakota is glued to my hip. Like yes I’ve had her 7 years now and we’re emotionally bonded. She goes nowhere new (or even some places she knows) without me. She’s clingy and I love it

PAC points were officially updated and Dakota has won her first APHA award with me and my first ever. And to think that my little western pleasure pony earned it in her first ever season showing western dressage. 🥹

Dakota’s been in this habit of trying to walk away from the mounting block while I’ve been getting on. In less than five minutes I trained her to stand still with only a handful of Tums and some butt scratches. R+ for the win 🥳

One year since Dakota’s potential broken shoulder incident and two years since my ER visit after a nasty horse bite to the neck. I’m scared to see what the next hour and 52 minutes of today will hold lmao.

I’m glad I picked earrings I liked when I got my ears pierced last year bc I’m such a wimp about taking them out. Idk why but it makes me so squeamish.

At the barn we have three separate dry lots that can connect to the pasture. If the gates are open and I put Dakota in the first or second dry lot, she makes me walk with her to the pasture. She won’t go unless I lead the way and she can follow. She’ll just stand at the gate and stare at me. 🤦♀️

Purposefully situated Dakota on this little incline so she could stretch her back a bit while I groomed her. She stood there like an angel while I brushed her and then ran back to my car to get her Tums. I love how red she gets with her winter coat too.

Saw a dressage saddle for sale at the show for only $250 so I texted the owner and asked for more info. Even if regular dressage doesn’t work out, the saddle was cheap and I can sell it. 🤷♀️

Out of all the venues we’ve shown at this year Dakota likes the one that’s most expensive. It’s the only one she’s been sane at. Why am I not surprised that she has bougie taste in shows too. 🤦♀️

Dakota more than redeemed herself this weekend! Decent rides, but so much better than last weekend. She was calm and level headed. We also got enough points to get our PAC Certificate of Recognition! To get that we needed 20 points in a single event. My little western pleasure turned dressage pony 🩵
