Geez, I haven't posted here in a while. Still doing BJJ. Down a fair whack after surgery. Been strength training for a little over 3 months fairly consistently, took a 1 week break for a rib injury. Headed to Raro for a holiday soonish. And yeah.

Second bjj class. My gi turned up right before it. Pants are a little snug, hoping they loosen up a bit as I lose more weight/maybe they'll stretch? Also rubbed the skin off my big toe knuckle. Ouch. Awesome class. Love this school and the coach is awesome.

Been cooking Asian inspired dishes for dinner the past week. Had Sesame Chicken and Broccoli, and just cooked up a batch of Easy Korean Beef (to be served with Broccoli). Just loving the flavours!

My son suffers really bad anxiety when trying new things... today he went to his first martial arts class, BJJ. He was almost shaking right before it started, but boy he was brave. He told the teacher he was really nervous & a couple kids looked after him. Big smiles at the end. So proud of him.

Bed gets delivered in 2 days!!!! Can't friggen wait! Really over feeling the wooden slats of the bed base.

Also had a fun morning with my tama. Breakfast (2 scrambled eggs) took me out of commission for a few hours though as it didn't agree with my pouch #bariatricsurgerylife

Bought my first ever dryer today! Such a luxury, but this winter has sucked royally trying to get clothes and bedding dry. Got one that matches the washing machine too 😅. And with all the gift cards we had, it only cost $68 out of pocket. We basically just paid for delivery. Now the waiting game...

Just made my submission on the Regulatory Standards Bill. Fuck this government.

Was bestowed the title of "Washing King" by my wife. That makes me feel a bit proud, haha

Forgot to say, outcome of the gastroscopy is bile reflux.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't regret getting bariatric surgery sometimes.

Side-note I made chia pudding tonight for tomorrow's breakfast. I hope it tastes good.

In the hospital waiting to be seen for a gastroscopy. Have been having breakthrough pain/reflux even after doubling the dose of omeprazole.

So excited to have bought a new bed today! We got the last one from Ecosa. We've had it 7 years, it lasted more like 5, which for the price probably isn't so bad. Back to Sleapyhead this time! Looking forward to my back not hitting the bed base anymore!

LG's products AND customer service is shit. Lodge an enquiry for a warranty claim, they ask for more information, I supply it, a month later I'm having to call their customer service line. Been 20 minutes & only managed to forward the info I already sent through the last time. Never buying LG again

Had smoked salmon and cottage cheese with chives on cruskits today. Holy wow, talk about delicious!

Anyone who's had bariatric surgery got any tips for surviving the flu? I'm on day 5, struggling with fluids because I want to vomit after a certain amount. I don't feel like eating. I've tried having protein water to get some protein but it slows my fluid intake down.

Wife made spag bol today! Feels like I'm having real food! A bit funny cooking 4 spaghetti noodles though... #bariatricsurgery

Doing slow cooked pork chops right now & they smell amazing.
~500g pork chops
89g thinly sliced gala apple
78g thinly sliced onion
75ml chicken stock
75ml raw apple juice
1 sprig rosemary
1 sprig thyme

Salt & pepper the chops and sear.
Chuck the rest in the slow cooker, 4 hours on high.

This petition to stop NZ First's stupid sex definitions bill has been open for nearly a week and has 1.2k signatures

The hate group's petition that spawned this bill took four months to get 2.2k signatures

Let's show just how little hate there is

#bariatricsurgery post-surgery soft foods phase (after puree) question. I realise all programmes might not have a distinction between puree & soft foods, but for those that did... could you share some recipes or meal ideas? Seems like it could be the same as puree, but just without pureeing?

Passed my 1st course/paper of NZ Cert. in Te Reo (Bilingual) (Level 1) at Open Polytechnic, just enrolled in the 2nd course/paper for June. I think once I've completed this cert. I'll look to enrol with Te Wānanga o Aotearoa as I think I prefer the akomanga (classroom) learning experience.

This spells the beginning of Leaky Buildings 2.0
Government to allow self-certification in scheme to speed up building projects
The change is expected to initially allow about 3000 homes to be built each year without the usual approval and inspection delays, Minister Chris Penk says.
