The new oldest living player, and the only other living MLB centenarian, is former Birmingham Black Baron Bill Greason, whose four innings for the 1954 Cardinals made him the Cards' first black pitcher in 1954. Former MVP Bobby Shantz will turn 100 in September. www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/...
Schallock, oldest living ex-MLB'er, dies at 100
Pitcher Art Schallock, who in 1951 replaced future Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle on the Yankees' roster and had been the oldest living former major leaguer, has died at age 100.

After a bunch of scrounging for cards, we're ready for the interstitial one-off best-of-seven series before 1964 (Groundhog Day version). Your competitors in this series:

The top HR seasons at each position

Versus the top batting average seasons at each position.

Presenting the rosters:

That wraps up our first pass at 1964. I'm going to do a quick one-off project and then restart 1964 with the Dodgers replay.

Ever notice how except for Gehrig, the #Yankees championship teams' 1B are kind of meh? They won with Babe Dahlgren & Johnny Sturm (negative WAR), plus Wally Pipp, Nick Etten, George McQuinn, Tommy Henrich, Joe Collins (4), Bill Skowron (4), Chris Chambliss (2), Tino Martinez (4) and Mark Teixeira.

Bob Costas: You won a World Series ring with the 1964 Cardinals, right?
#BobUecker: Yes, but I didn't play in the Series. I had hepatitis.
Costas: How'd you get hepatitis?
Uecker: The trainer injected me with it.
