I gave up being nice ages ago. It does get you manipulated and used.

This is a work colleague of mine. I never give him insight into my life as he's looking for a way in to start manipulating. He's one of those people who lies in wait to hurt people for his own amusement.

This is an important stance, though can be hard and disappointing if you made the wrong decision on a friendship you had hopes for. But nevertheless, choosing yourself is the right way to go.
