Our forensic technician, Mohit Mistry, gave up some time on the DerbyUni Video Spectro Comparator to look at some minerals from @derbyuniearth.bsky.social collection. Fluorite/Beryl/Topaz/Opal/Selenite/Opal in transmittedUV 365nm; violet 410nm; floodUV 365nm; white light.

While out in the field looking at rocks with @derbyuniearth.bsky.social 1st year students, it’s always nice to look at other things too. Here I think we have (correct if wrong) Marsh thistle, Common Lousewort, Heath milkwort, Round-leaved sundew, Heath bedstraw, Tormentil & Common cotton-grass.
