I watched the herd of Roosevelt elk cross the field for close to an hour, patiently waiting and hoping they’d cross the creek so I could get photos of them in the water.

They didn’t quite make it. Just one wandered in.
Still worth it 🦌📷

I watched them for a long while, the White-faced Ibises, standing together in the still water, calm and unhurried.
At some point I realized I’d joined them.
Just standing there.
Just as peaceful 🪶

A White-faced Ibis struck this impossible pose for a heartbeat, and the light hit just right to reveal those iridescent colours 🪶

Photography is all about patience, paying attention, and being ready for the moment.

Photography keeps teaching me the same thing: there is beauty to find in whatever light you're given 🪶

A simple moment in the wetlands — a White-faced Ibis and a crayfish 🪶

The world reveals itself when we’re still enough to notice.

Edited with my Golden Divide Lightroom Preset from my Expressive Photographer Toolkit.

This is what I love most about photographing wildlife: you never know what moment you’ll be given… but you do have to be ready to catch it. 🪶

Let it go. Let it fall. Make some space.

The trees know when to embrace change.

I always have a hard time saying goodbye to summer - the long days, the boating and the ocean. And yet, here comes fall with its wild fire of colour, stealing the show 🍁 📷

Another favourite from the BC coast: the surf scoter. With that wild bill and ghost-white eye, it looks almost like a puffin 🪶📷

One of those creatures that always brings a smile to my salt-weathered face.

I love a calm morning aboard the boat, watching the fog drift across the water and through the trees.

Stillness is not stagnation. It's a kind of meditation. Just listening to the wild tell me what is important.

We belong to something older than ambition.

On a foggy morning, as we departed our anchorage, a rare fogbow arched over the shoreline with a perfect reflection in the calm ocean.

I took some pano shots by hand and used Lightroom's Photo Merge feature to stitch them together – worked like a charm!

I love our little dinghy adventures at anchor. Paddling along the shoreline, I lean over the side with my underwater camera on a stick, hoping I’ve got the angle just right to catch a bit of magic in the frame 🦑

Fog changes everything. It hides, it reveals, it softens the edges of the world. Shooting in these conditions, the forest becomes layers of mystery. Like life, not everything is meant to be sharp in focus 📷🌄

The view that never gets old. Desolation Sound, BC. Sometimes I think the wilderness doesn’t change. But maybe it’s me that changes, each time I return 📷 🌄 🌊

Golden light spilling across the water at our newest anchorage in Desolation Sound, BC. Calm water, beautiful light, and that feeling of being exactly where you’re supposed to be. 📸 🌅 💛

Anchored near Blind Channel, on the BC coast, I woke to fog so thick I could barely see the water. An hour later, it lifted in slow ribbons.

Photographing fog is all about patience. The story unfolds slowly. 📷

We’ve made a new friend in the anchorage. He’s round, whiskered, and an excellent swimmer. 🐙📷

One of my favourite birds on the BC coast, the Rhinocerous Aucklet, surfaces with it's morning catch. It felt like a catch for me too! 🪶📷

Wild moments: a merganser lineup on sunlit rock, perfectly unbothered by the chaos of the world beyond the shoreline.

That's what I like about being out here too. News off, wilderness on 🪶📷
