Great river restoration project in the Gurgeltal valley, Tyrol, AUT. They did some proper river widening. 4 to 5 times more
space for the Gurgelbach River. Helps to reconnect the river to last remains of the surrounding wetlands and provides flood control for the infrastructure further downstream.

Lovely braided reach of the Vils River in Tyrol. Still my favourite channel pattern. Not many braided rivers left in Austria unfortunately.

Gschnitzbach in Tyrol, Austria. Water temperatures below 13 degree Celsius throughout the whole year. Perfect conditions for brown trout.

Mediterranean rivers

Under current warming trajectories (+2.7°C) deglaciation of Tyrol is expected to be near total before 2075 (less than 1% of 2017 volume remaining)! 😱

Only meeting the 1.5 target could save some of them! 📈🌡️
