hello world, feeling slightly new born!
hope this place is safer and sunnier than the one i just left.
Tonight at Paul O Regan Hall, such a fascinating look back at the history of art spaces in Halifax... and a bleak view of the present and future. Art needs a home too.

the wind around my bedroom window today and for the past few days has sounded like the wind that howls around the NS Hospital. Not a healing feature of that place.

Walked on the waterfront with dad today. A glorious day for it. We didn't get there all summer for a number of reasons and today i forgot to take photos. So just imagine a tiny 93 year old sitting facing the sun with his sunglasses on soaking it all in...

Sometimes I think I must be done. My brain feels arid as a desert. Hoping this isn't an end, but if it is it's the whimper variety.

Heart full of sads. Sometimes a good thing is still a sad thing.

Everything that used to mean something feels far away. Things that weren't an issue earlier this year suddenly are THE burning issue. It's stomach churning how quickly everything can change, personally and professionally and politically too though that's not what's eating me. It's the personal part.

World Mental Health Day... because anyone who has a brain, needs a healthy mind too, to get through a day in this world.

If anyone who can pick it up would like this drawing in chalk pastel and oil pastel on brown paper, called Darkness Descending and made after the presidential election of 2016, let me know. it's pretty huge, bigger than 4 feet w x 3 1/2 feet high. I can't promise it but wondering who might like it.

Poems are taking their time. It's theirs to take. A poem is not a curling stone that you have to hurry hard. But when it hits the mark, after however long, you'll know it.

Today, as the Israeli government “calls on tens of thousands of reservists to participate in the cruel re-occupation of Gaza City, I implore my fellow soldiers: Refuse to report,” Yotam Vilk writes in a guest essay.
Opinion | Refusing to Serve in Gaza Is the Only Way to Save Israel
It is the duty of Israeli military reserves to stay home and not fight an unjust war.
