A lovely tribute by playwright Anthony Akerman to his fellow #SouthAfrican playwright Athol Fugard who died this week. His moving plays of human suffering during the apartheid era remain etched in my mind.
From the archive: On fountain pens and lessons from Athol Fugard
On 11 June this year (2022), the playwright Athol Fugard turns 90. Since the 1960s, he’s been an influential presence in the South African theatrical landscape. His plays – many of which gave a voice ...

RIP Breyten Breytenbach - the best wordsmith in Afrikaans - passionate, dwars, difficult and charming at the same time. The words will live on forever.

wat mekaar sonder skaamte
in die oë kan kyk -
want die lewe is 'n asem lank
en die sterre op die Anderplek donker’ - Breyten Breytenbach
