On the monumental triumph that is Dommaraju Gukesh's World Championship win:

Neeraj, Pant, Vinesh, Vishy...Gukesh walks in footsteps of champions who defied odds, ignored convention
Belief. It's the one quality that describes Gukesh -- and with him, elite Indian sport -- the best.

Gukesh garu!! What a performance, that, to claw it all back at the end after what felt like a terrible mid-game. Superb stuff from the man who now leads the World Championship 6 - 5

If FIDE's aim was to bring chess to the masses, make it more accessible, a more enjoyable watch, the current tournament format does the exact opposite.

On the too-much-ness of Ding vs Gukesh:

Bored games: After six straight draws, time for chess world championship to tweak the format
If chess becomes boring for Magnus Carlsen, what chance do the rest of us have?

Mushaga Bakenga is off the mark in the ISL with a lovely swivel and hit against defending champs Mumbai City...

...any excuse to plug this interview with a most remarkable human:

Messi in India? In Kerala? Sounds spectacular... but what exactly does spending this much serve to achieve?

On #Messi, #Kerala and most of all #IndianFootball

Messi in Kerala: government's decision to invite Argentina serves little purpose
Bringing Messi and Argentina to Kerala seems a grand endeavor, but what exactly does this serve to achieve?

For the few #IndianFootball fans on here, @anirudhvm.bsky.social reflects on India’s awful 2024 season, but has seen enough from Manolo Marquez to know 2025 will be better.

The 2024 season was bad for the Indian football team, but 2025 will be far better
The Indian men's football team finished the year 2024 without a single win, but there's still cause for hope in 2025 and the primary reason for that is Manolo Marquez.

How is it Rafa Nadal's last tournament already? Close my eyes and I can still see the ludicrous sleeveless tee/three-fourth combo I used to imitate as someone not all that younger than the man (and with a fraaaaction of the muscle mass). Sigh.

Reading David Peace's Munichs and the start is so chaotic and intense and incredible and deeply sad.

For an MUFC fan with no connections to Manchester it takes you back to what the city, the club, the people...all those people... were going through during that cold, cold February in 1958.

That's the thing, isn't it... there's always a brave new world out there.

Hello, Bluesky :)
