The Tasmanian government has introduced legislation to parliament to end greyhound racing by mid-2029.

In August, the government announced it would stop funding greyhound racing, effectively putting an end to it. This legislation takes this a step further to see the industry officially banned.

The way things were are not always the way things should be. We can’t change the past. But we can shape a kinder future.

Heartbroken to confirm Dr Mu’ath Abu Rakba, a skilled, compassionate vet with @sulalaanimalsaver.bsky.social, has been killed. He disappeared last week trying to return to his home in Gaza.

Dr Mu’ath, thank you. You gave peace to so many who suffered. May you now find that same peace. 💔

We all have more in common than differences that set us apart. We all long for companionship, compassion, and respect. We are all deserving of lives free from abuse.

Just days after the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza, Sulala Animal Rescue’s dedicated veterinarian, Dr Mu’ath Abu Rakba, has been reported missing, and several members of his family have been killed. 💔

We hold hope in our hearts that he will be found safe and well.

Her message of peace and hope is one we stand to live by every day. 🧡

Thank you, Dr. Jane Goodall. The world is kinder because you were here. May you rest knowing your compassion lives on in a global movement for animals and our planet.

Because our laws don't protect them.
Because compassion doesn't discriminate.
Because our treatment of the defenceless, defines us.
Because they are someone, not something.

In the wild, life is rich with choice, connection, challenge, and freedom.

In zoos – behind bars, glass walls, moats and fences – they experience only a fraction of the lives they were born to live.
Can captivity ever be kind?
