This is either exactly what you want when you walk into a bookshop, or this is a nightmare for you
"Meadow" - place arrow tiles around a grid to claim a card the arrow points toward; or to take special actions. Play cards into your tableau to provide symbols to meet the requirements for later cards (which will often cover up those earlier symbols, but will score you points).

Let's say my friend is going to the beach. I describe the kind of shell I want him to bring back for me, and he brings me back several shells matching that description.

I reject them and amend my description. He brings back more, no exact matches, but I decide to take 1.

Did I create that shell?

"Twinkle Twinkle" - draft acrylic tiles with stars, planets, etc and place on your board for end game scoring. Which one you pick also sets turn order next round, and you can see which tiles will be available then too. The scoring rule tiles have 2 sides to vary things from game to game

It's funny that people who make commercials apparently now think that the "uncanny valley" is a good thing, rather than horrifically alienating.

Gotta go back, back to the past!

It's time to take one of our first of many dives back into the past for #boardgames we loved-- and this time we're going many years back to chat about some oldies but goodies we loved before we even made an OFPG channel!

Together, we raised over $600,000 for @translifeline.org this year. From the bottom of my heart, I'm so grateful. We have come together to say to our trans friends and family that they are loved and that they are not alone.

Trans rights are human rights.

When we gather together, we can make Magic.

Unearthed my old iPod. Anyone have a good recommendation for software to interface with it? iTunes doesn't see the files (I assume because they weren't bought via Apple Music) and WinAmp is taking about 20 minutes to recognize each song.

"Puerto Rico" special edition. It's nice playing with nice bits, though getting everything back in the box takes some doing.

For those who haven't played: Role-selection farming game. Take turns selecting a role/action. Everyone does the action but the person who chose it gets a stronger version.

Finished watching Wonder Man last night, I thought it was very good.

In part, because I think too many super-hero shows/movies are super-hero ACTION movies, and not enough think about the second attribute being different. Mystery, romance, horror, noir, drama, roadtrip, buddy cop, rom-com etc.

"12 Rivers" - take turns placing walls on tracks to interrupt and claim marbles that roll into them from the top; or claim tiles that draw you cards and give you a scoring condition. Put marbles on tiles to score, spend cards to place higher on the river or for special abilities. #boardgames

"Arborea" - you're nature spirits trying to be the best at healing biomes. Action spaces reward you for waiting on them longer before activating, and for going places where other people are already. Resources you gather but don't immediately use go in a shared pool and earn you VP.

As someone who grew up in Tarrant county, I'm pleasantly surprised.

If you had told me it was In Austin, I would be like "oh sure, Austin is considered purple but keeps getting gerrymandered to suppress it, so a seat getting flipped there isn't surprising". But Fort Worth? That's not trivial.

LEGO owl Dreamzz set! The little guy is funny because there's no way he could stay standing with the claw in the air like they depict in the book.

Watching the first episode of "The Beauty" on Hulu, a show about a virus that makes you beautiful but with horrible side effects.

First ad break has 2 commercials: one for the show itself, and one for Botox.

There's no way that a human selected those ads.

As someone who grew up in Texas but now has to shovel snow off a driveway, here's my recommendations 🧵:

Get the shovels that are a curved piece of metal, not plastic ones with a metal edge. Plastic ones are worse at scraping the ice hidden underneath and break after a couple of seasons.
